Why
connect C-BUS to Comfort?
The
C-BUS is a distributed
system consisting
of sensors (switches, light sensors, motion sensors) and
actuators (for lighting, dimming, fan, curtain/ blinds), with
each device having its own intelligence and with a specific
function. Comfort is a home controller which coordinates the
activity of home appliances and equipment, acting as the
“brains” for the home. For example, when an intruder alarm is
activated, the lights in the immediate area can come on
automatically, and when someone comes in the front door when the
security system is armed, the hall lights can be switched on, or
when the system is armed to Night mode, the lights can be dimmed
for a few minutes and then switched off. This requires the
intruder alarm system and the lighting system to work closely
together. Comfort can switch lights through main-rated relays
but it does not dim lighting directly, it works with lighting
systems (X10, EIB, C-Bus, ,Lutron etc.) . Comfort complements
the C-BUS system by providing a comprehensive telecontrol
function with up to 300 functions, and the ability to send
infrared signals to home entertainment and airconditioners.
Through the Comfort Web Server Module, the CBUS system can be
controlled from a local Area Network, or the Internet. |

UCM/C-Bus
The UCM/C-Bus
connects Comfort to the C-BUS. The C-BUS bus is connected to a
two-pin terminal block on the UCM/C-BUS. No additional equipment
is required on the C-BUS side. This provides a two-way interface
between Comfort and the C-BUS, i.e., Comfort is able to send as
well as receive telegrams on the C-BUS. Signals on Comfort are
isolated from the C-BUS by optical isolators. |
